On the evening of Friday, September 7, 2018 the Cotton Museum will proudly host an opening reception for Four Kinds of Y’all, a group photography exhibition featuring work from members of Due South Co-op– Ryan Steed, Ellen Rodgers, David McCarty, and myself.
Weaving together the work of four artists who concentrate and live in the American South, pastoral landscapes from rural Mississippi mingle with the urban grit of Memphis, while delicate Florida pastels feel right at home beside taxidermied bobcats. The dialogue of the artists blends together like four old friends having a conversation at midnight.
The exhibition runs September 7 – November 30, 2018, and the opening reception is free and open to the public.
Signed and editioned artist prints will be available for sale.
The first photowalk in Greenwood, Mississippi last year was such a success (I mean, the participants of the walk are going to be in a group show at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta during the summer of 2019) that I can’t help myself…
On October 27, 2018, the 2nd Annual Southeastern Photowalk (SEWLK) will be held in Savannah, Georgia. I am excited that once again Richard Photo Lab is going to sponsor this walk.
The walk is open to the first 25 people to register.
A sincere thank you to Richard McCabe for including this image of Old Sardis in the Griffin Museum’s 24th Annual Juried Member’s Exhibition and for awarding it an honorable mention!
It was a privilege to be able to attend the opening last night, to visit with other photographers included in this exhibit, to meet Paula, and to catch up with Richard. The Griffin Museum of Photography is an amazing space. I wanted to camp out indefinitely; however the natives were restless. The show is up July 19 through September 2, 2018, so I hope you can swing by to see it if you live in the Boston area.
This morning it was exciting to discover that areview of the exhibit ran in the Boston Globe!
It is always a pleasure to be able to walk and talk with another photographer about a passion we share. This was no exception. Thank you for hosting me, Andrew!
The Soho Photo Gallery is exhibiting the 2018 National Photography Competition from July 5 through July 21, 2018.
Thank you to Paula Tognarelli, Executive Director and Curator, Griffin Museum of Photography, for narrowing 2000 image submissions down to around 40 and including Sialia Sialis in the exhibit!
OPENINGRECEPTION: Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm.
If you live in or will be passing through New York City this summer, I hope you can pop in to see American Splendour at the iLon Art Gallery—up June 1 through August 12th, 2018. It was a pleasant surprise for two of the images I submitted to be included—January 1 and Merrimac in the Milo. It was even more of a shock to get a honorable mention.
My grateful thanks to the jurors– Jon Feinstein, David Rosenberg, Hannah Frieser, Loni Efron, and Ruben Natal-San Miguel.
